Once upon a time, people would check the time by glancing at a clock securely fastened to their wrist instead of referencing their phone every ten minutes. These crazy devices were called wristwatches. Sometimes people would interact with one another by asking if they “had the time.”

One snowy morning in New England i woke up, late for work as usual. Racing to put my work clothes on and eat food at the same time i realized my clock was WAYY off and i was not only 15 minutes late, but an hour and fifteen minutes late! So next thing i know im racing out my front door and on my way to work. Speeding down the narrow snowy roads in new england thinking to myself "Ohh shit Evan, you did it this time! You are soo fired!" then before i knew it i was sliding sideways off the road! then WHAM! I ended up in a front lawn with no clock, phone, or way to get out.. Lucky everyone around here is a hick and has a truck with a tow winch! And i got to work just shy of two hours late!! Soo hopefuly my story wins me one of these bling blanggen ass watches! and if not I atleast hope it provided some entertainment for everyone. Haha thanks, Evan.

One time I was late for my first track meet, trained all year to make the team, I did then, I arrived at this meet stepped out of my friends car and Blam nailed by a pontiac fiero doing 45 in a school zone, it folded my leggs underneath the car and drug me about 25 yards. Iced up my leggs until my sport, placed third collasped went to the ER and was on crutches for 4 months.

Here in Alaska we spend the winter driving on icy roads and in the summer through constructions zones. Just today I woke up at 0730 knowing damn well I had to be at work at 0800. This is fine because it only takes 10 minutes to get to work even in rush hour traffic. I do my morning ritual (Brush and dash) and hit the road. As soon as I make a left turn I smacked right in the face with a lane closure. Traffic was backed up for a quarter mile and I thought, "Oh dude I'm soooo gonna be late." The office opens at 0800 and if I show up at 0801 RING THE ALARM!! I find an illegal parking spot which I'm sure will attract the attention of the "Parking Lot Security" guard and speed walk inside. I get to the office and there's a sign on the door that read, "Due to road construction we will be opening at 0830. Sorry for any delay in service." I'm like, "RRREEEEAAAALLLLLYYY?" I figured I'd go move my car and wouldn't you know it? I have a freegin' ticket. BAM! FML!

Hey everyone I have a crazy story of one time I went Partying at UNH and I arived their at 10pm knowing I got work at 7 in the morning. So while me and buddies were getting hammered on liqure we just keep on drinking and partying and eventually knocked out at some girls crib and had nice night. So the next morning I wake Up at 6 all ready to go and where I parked my car it was missing so I was like fuck, one my dad is going to kick my ass and another is I'm Def not going to make it to work. So then I walked down the street and seen my car at smittys towing and they weren't even open yet, I called them to get my car out and they were asking 120 for a 30 second tow I hadno money and they were like pease were out and I'm just standing there not knowing what to do. On the other side was this little opening my car could fit threw but there was a pile of snow in the way so I took some medal pole and started hacking away to the point I stole my car out the impound lot lol. I had 20 min to drop 4 kid off and race to work but was running out of gas so had to borrow the only 4 dollars we had one car and fill gas didn't get shit, then we had to go threw a toll had no dollar so needed to fill out paperwork aww, finally made it back showed go ready and made it to work 2 hours late with a massive hangover and puked while working

I left for a job interview on time. However, it was the only time I was for this adventure. Not one, not two, but three freight trains stopped me at various times on my way. Then there was a traffic slowdown due to an accident. Then it turned out that the directions I had (which I was given by the company not some bad Mapquest idiocy) was way wrong and ended up lost in a suburb I didn't know. All in all I was an hour and a half late for the job interview. However, I still got the job.

The woman behind me gasped loudly, and I realized she was one of the women who interviewed me for the job. I shrugged it off, but our professional relationship never recovered.

It was my first year in the US(from Peru), i was working as a bus boy at a restaurant in new jersey and daylight saving time came around. I had no idea what that was so the day before i got wasted out of my mind(There`s a story that i was wondering in the woods with a sombrero,don`t remember this at all). I was supposed to be at work at 12pm to work a double; i called them saying i was gonna be 10 to 15 minutes late and they told me i was already late and they heard what happened last night so i had to show up because if i didn`t i was gonna get fired. i showed up 2 hours late. After working till 12am i went out and i forgot to set my clock again for the next day because i got wasted again, so i got fired because i was late 2 days in a row.

freshman year in college I overslepted on day of my finals. Finals started at 9am and I didn't wake up til 10am. I ran like crazy in my PJ's, and by the time I got to class I was exhausted. All my classmates looked at me funny because I still had my PJ's on. Since I didn't have time to finish my exam, my professor was nice enough to let me finish it in his office.

Many many, years ago. before airlines cared what happened to kids that flew alone. I was flying internationally from NY to Trinidad. At the tender age of nine the instruction that was given to me by my father was, and I quote: "Your intelligent, and you can read. Pay attention and don't miss your flight." What my father failed to take into account was air traffic delays and customs. Needless to say when I landed late in Miami I had to run like a little OJ through the airport in order to make my connecting flight. Scared out of my mind. But I made it.

Work up about 2 hours late for work... For anyone else wouldn't be a huge problem, but I was encharge of the security and had just changed the codes to let everyone in the building. 30+ people sat outside in there cars during the winter, waiting for me to show up. Best part of the story is that i never got in trouble. I luckily was the only security person work for the company at the time. I later got an appoligy for working me too hard while being short handed...

This isn't a story of being late it is a story of being 12 hrs early. About 18 years ago I was stationed at Thule Air Base in Greenland (the cold, icy, snowy place). I worked the mid shift, and it was during the period of 24 hours of darkness, I was startled by movement in the hallway of my dorm. I looked over at the clock next to my bed and noticed it was or appeared to be 4 pm. I jumped out of bed quickly shaved put my uniform on and gathered my gear. As I exited my room and entered the stairwell, I noticed it was the dayshift guys on their way to work. When I noticed it was them, they looked up and went into hysterics laughing at me. I quickly turned around went back to my room and got back into bed. It just goes to show that you can't go just by what you think the time of day it is. You have to actually look and verify if it is am or pm.

When I lived abroad I was staying at a house and the only way to get to the area I needed to was to take a row boat and cross a river... One day I was very late because I got lost in the fog. It was not a fun experience but at least the boss understood once explained to him.

I play softball during the summer and got asked to sub for a team on a night I normally don't play. Well, I was sitting at home playing with my cat when I get a text message saying "Are you close?". And, just like a flash, I got changed, threw my softball stuff in my backpack, and grabbed my bike and headed out the door. Never had I rode a bike so fast in my life. I arrived just as the third inning started. It was the championship game for the team and I ended up being the winning run.

I had an early meeting in the AM and anything that could go wrong did go wrong. I didn't wake up as early as I had liked, I ate breakfast, brushed my teeth, and was getting ready to run out the door and hopped in the car that ended up not working so I got the car working after awhile and then I get going and I'm half way there and see that I forgot all my paperwork and things but I remembered a disk that I needed with the presentation on it so I figure I'm ok I can wing it with the presentation so I get the ready to do the presentation plug it in with everybody there and get an error message so I look at the disk and see it had been damaged so it was completely destoryed, my notes and everything were left home so I couldn't do anything at the meeting I had set up with a very important client so I was very embarrassed and apologized and then the power went out. That whole day from then on was just the worse day in my professional life and I try so hard to block it out now.

I was running late for a flight one time, I had three kids and had to catch a shuttle to the airport. By the time I got there it was pure chaos. I had a baby carrier in one hand, several bags in tow, while my eldest son had my 3 year old and his luggage in tow. We jumbled into the airport check in, raced to the security check point. Upon seeing the machines and guards, my 3 year old lost it. Hysterical and frightened, he wouldn't walk even a foot in front of the check point. My eldest son had to carry the baby while I coaxing my three year old to let me carry him through. My toddler was so loud, the whole security area was focused on what my son would do next. Far from being ok with the whole deal, my toddler had officers (both TSA & local police) encouraging him through the security scanners with smiles and understanding coaxing. I might as well been sending this kid to Shawshank Redemption, but I doubt any kid is a TSA issue. *rolls eyes* After getting the kids and myself through the security point, we had to high tail it to our flight, we just barely getting there in time. After boarding, we found that the airline had switched seats on us, so my eldest son was tucked two rows away from us. Thus it was me and the two youngest kids. One in my lap and the toddler who was still swooning from the security point check. All I'm saying is, it was the only time I was ever late for a flight and the last. lol

I am a college student and had woken up late one morning. I jumped in the shower really and brushed my teeth combed my hair and put on my clothes as a normal person wold. Not looking down as I put on my shoes, I walked out of my room, down the elevator, and to the bus stop. I had people looking at me like I was crazy the minute I walked out. Then by the time I hgot to school my friends told me that I had two different shoes on. It was embarassing.

When I took 1st semester chem lab in college, I happened to team up with a guy that had been a chem tech for 3 years but the university wouldn't give him a pass for the lab. We only missed two points for the entire semester (the lab TA actually used our lab reports to grade everyone else's reports!), so my A was assured -- as long as I got my lab book in by 5 PM on the Friday of Finals Week. I thought I had dropped it off, but for some reason I hadn't -- as I discovered 20 min before 5. There was no way I was going to make it through rush hour traffic, find some parking, and then run to the lab. I had a job interview about 45 minutes from my house, and I was really excited for it. I always give myself a whole bunch of time when it's my first time going somewhere, so I left an hour and 45 minutes before my interview. I got on to the highway and was stuck in bumper to bumper traffic immediately. My father called me and said he just heard about an accident, but it was too late, and my GPS was the only way I would have made it to the interview and it wouldn't give me any alternate routes. I literally didn't move for about an hour and was a half hour late, but the person interviewing me was in the same traffic and showed up later than me, so it was good on that front.

The daily grind of driving to work at the Pentagon, and some jack-off alerted a bomb scare last week. It's a sh*tty drive, and a sh*tty giant parking lot and a sh*tty long-ass walk from your car to your office without some ass holding me up even more! So yes, I was late that day.

The time I was running late was during my hockey season. One of the games I was running late too, when I got to the locker room everyone one was walking out getting ready to start the game. I hurried as fast as I could to get dressed. Sometime during the game I was in front of the net getting pushed by the opposing teams goalie. One of my teammates shot the puck towards me, and the goal, but it was too high. It hit me just to the left of my twig-and-berries, on my upper thigh. That's when I knew I forgot one very important piece of my equipment, the jockstrap. And I only forgot it because I was running late. The next day I had this black/purplish/yellow bruise a little bit bigger than a puck size. I came so close to maybe never having babies that day that I never forget to wear my cup every again. Even if I was running late.

One Sunday I had a guest over after having no sleep the night before so I was super tired. After my guest left that afternoon, I fell asleep and woke up LATE! I ran around like a mad woman, and when I darted out to jump in my car, I wasn't sure whether it was early AM, or early PM! I ran back inside, and called a friend to ask WHICH it was, and of course my friend thought that I was nuts. Turns out I was 12 Hours EARLY for work!! The kicker? I was actually LATE the next morning!!!!

I was late to a job interview once. The interview took place at the main office and where I would be working was 30 minutes away. I had no idea how to get there so I used the GPS. It took me nowhere near where I needed to go. I finally got there very late. I even took the GPS in to show them it gave me the wrong directions. They wouldn't even interview me. I really wanted that job.

I am a teacher so I can't run late because my little 1st graders are always waiting on me and relying on me to be on time. Well one morning I was running late because it was storming. I arrived late and my students didn't even relize. I was shocked, but someone else did notice my principal. What an embarrasing moment that was.

I hardly ever run late because I'm adamant about being on time to everything. Last semester I was running a little late thanks to awful traffic to get to one of my classes in college. I arrived, maybe two minutes late and the professor had locked me out of the classroom. I knocked on the door and he just looked at me and proceed to ignore me and continue his lecture. Now I really try not to be late to anything because that not only embarrassed me, but annoyed me as well.
