In our continuing effort to bring you the sexiest of sexy, The Smoking Jacket has launched a new feature, The Week in Sexy Advertising. It’s written by Steve Hall who publishes Adrants, a site that writes about marketing, advertising and the use of sex as a selling point.
We won’t discuss the business of advertising much because, well, that’s just boring. But we will bring you a weekly round up advertising’s best eye candy.
Idiots Opt For Beer Instead of Hot Chick
There’s one indisputable fact regarding this new commercial from Lighthouse Brewing Company. The two guys in the ad are idiots. Why? Because any warm blooded male with half a brain and a pecker of any size would always opt for the hot chick over a beer. But these two morons would rather sit back and enjoy their Lighthouse beer instead of engaging in conversation – and perhaps more – with the bikini-clad hot chick right in front of them.
Busty Bikini Babes With Bouncing Boobs Make Way to Giant Shower
Lynx is at it again. Along the lines of its famed Billions of Bikini Babes, the brand set out to break the record for the most people showering together. They succeeded with 152 people under one shower head. Of course, the lead up to the record breaking event is far more spectacular than the event itself. Picture 150 bikini-clad busty babes running in slow motion with their ample breasts heaving upward and downward as they make their way to one lucky guy standing under a giant shower head. It will never be you, but that’s why we have commercials, to make us think it will be one day.
Slow Motion Powder Fight Promotes Music Festival
It may just be us. No. It’s totally just us. But this new ad for Australian music festival Summadayze 2012 is kinda hot. Cute girls getting explosively pummeled with colored powder. What’s not hot about that?
Of the video, AdWeek’s Tim Nudd writes, “At almost 2 minutes long, the finished piece, epic and surreal, mimics the hallucinatory feeling – tinged with the threat of violence – of being immersed in music within a crowd.”
To us…well…we just think there’s something really sexy about cute girls getting splattered with colored powder.
There Will Always Be Ass in Commercials
Wait for it. Wait for it. Wait for it. Oh, there it is! This two minute video for Vizelia, a software company that prides itself on helping save energy, takes :90 seconds longer than it needs to deliver its punchline and make it’s point; that money saved by using Vizelia can be allocated to less mundane aspects of office life. But it’s worth the ninety second wait for the pay off.
Bulging Global Objects Sell Mobile Object
This ad works on a couple of levels. First, and quite obviously, it states simply the name of the advertiser and provides a URL to the advertiser’s site. Second, it ever so perfectly winks at the likely reaction many will have to the ad with their attention drawn not to anything mobile but to a couple of things global bulging outward threatening to escape their tenuous confines.
Advertising Classic (Sort Of): Who Knew Wii Was So Hot?
Here’s a classic. A guy films his girlfriend wearing nothing but a t-shirt and underwear tantalizingly gyrating her hips while playing Wii Fit and, poof, instant YouTube stardom. Nope, It’s not a marketing stunt from Wii but it did come from a guy in advertising, Giovanny Gutierrez, director of interactive marketing at Miami’s Tinsley Advertising.
