This girl grew up scrappy — perpetually on the move as a kid, she entertained herself by singing into tape recorders. Front, now based in Brooklyn, is settling into what Pitchfork recently dubbed her “haunted balladry.”

We’re digging her “Superhero Style” track mucho mucho over here at TSJ. There’s some Chet Baker circa “Funny Valentine” sweet trumpeting going on, there’s some gentle croony-voice, some is-it-out-of-key piano, there’s some great lyrics.
