$13B is nothing compared to the revenue of any of those major tech companies, not more than all of them put together.

Headline is believable but some of these numbers totally are NOT. Porn industry worth of $13 billion greater than the revenues of the top tech companies?? Microsoft had $63 billion in revenues last year and nearly $19 billion in profit last year
. Numerous misspellings too…cast doubt on the accuracy and motive of this piece (and Online Psychology Degree!?).

$13,000,000 industry? Apple alone made about $27 billion in Q1 of 2011.

The stat used of pron site visitors are 28% women and 72% men doesn’t seem to go well with the other statistic also displayed which says that men are 6 times more likely to view porn than women.

Attempting to correlate facts without establishing cause & effect is worse than meaningless. Do depressed guys turn off girls or does being rejected depress guys. Simply naming two numbers and placing them next to each other is just a fiction.

$13 Billion is larger than the entire gross revenue of mainstream Hollywood. Video games make more money too. Hollywood is out of original ideas and keeps recycling the same crap. Please stop the cycle of sequels!

This is the most retarded infographic ever.
$13 Billion? not even going to comment on that assinine remark.
numerous typos.
This was clearly made by some religious fundy to demonize porn with all the negative stats at the bottom.

As has already been stated by one poster above, correlation does not equal causation. For example, is marital infidelity CAUSED by use of pornography, or is it just that people who are likely to cheat are also likely to use pornography (perhaps because they’re not getting any action from their spouse?). Which seems more likely to you? Same problem applies to most of the other “facts” in this article.

I don’t buy most of those statistics.
6:21 pm on March 5th, 2011
17% of women say they struggle with pornography addiction?
Just one question…
Where are they?

$13 Billion is very high but getting revenue in this way is not good and it wont yield our country a healthy development.

Porn has a lot of detrimental effects on the subconscious. While porn isn’t inherently bad, letting yourself become addicted can cause a lot of problems, especially in relationships.
Here’s a good article about how porn affects your subconscious.

previous comments here stated that porn doesn’t generate as much revenue as tech industry companies. The two cannot be compared. Porn generates quite a bit of money considering the low overhead and the low pay of the performers. The return on the initial low investment is quite substantial unlike a tech company.
