The worst exam I ever took was my placement exam when I went back to school to get my Masters degree. I was already accepted in to school, but in order to find out if you had the proper math skills to complete the degree, on the first day, the morning consisted of a math exam. Well, it was mostly calculus and I hadn't taken calculus for over 5 years. So, I took one look at the exam...went through every page...realized I had seen all of the stuff before, but couldnt' remember how to do it. I wrote a note on the front page stating this and walked out of the exam after just 10 minutes. I got some strange looks as I left, but I wasn't going to waste 2 hours of my day trying to do something I knew I couldn't. Later on, some of the students there said that they thought I was some kind of genius for finishing that quick. After I got my results back, they wanted me to take about 5 extra math classes in order to "get up to speed with the rest of the students". I didn't take them...I just studied with fellow students and relearned all that I had forgotten and graduated with my degree.

My worst test was the placement exam for French in college. How you did on that test determined how many semesters you go to skip. I was hungover and completely incapable, so obviously I decided to cheat on the entire thing. I ended up only getting 4 right out of 50.

In college, I took a course about J.R.R. Tolkein's works. The course was offered through the English department, and I assumed that we'd be tested on Tolkein's use of language and the themes explored throughout his stories. Instead, the instructor gave us a list of the rivers in Middle Earth on the final exam and asked us to describe where they were. Yes, I took a map test of a FICTIONAL WORLD. For a literature class. The instructor had just earned his PhD. I and another classmate asked everyone else in the class to write (truthfully) on our class evaluations how little this class did to serve the study of language and literature. He did not teach at my university again.

cried my way through my ap physics exam. just sobbed during the entire thing. came back with a 3. haven't celebrated like that since it was 1999.

One of the semesters in college I was taking 18 credits worth of classes and each one took a lot of my time (Architecture major). One of the classes was an economy class that I needed to get a minor in Business Management. Well, because I needed to definitely pass all my architecture classes to get my diploma I ended up not going to the economy class at all. I found out when the final exam was and I ended up going and taking it. I didn't want to feel like a quitter so I gave the test a chance even though I never went to class and I didn't even study for the test. I had no idea what the hell I was doing but I answered each question. In the end I passed the class and I got my minor. That was my most stressful semester ever and had to be the worst test I ever took!

Had to read a story, then remember the important themes for oral exams. Mis-read "public" as "pubic", and, well, you get the gist...

The worst exam I ever took was the PA Bar Exam. On the day of the essay portion of the exam I knew I had to do something to relax. So, I made a note at the tope of each essay question that I assumed any store/business was a sex toy store and would assume necessary facts related to the essay question as appropriate given that primary assumption. It made for a few very interesting essays when it came to the criminal essay and my analysis of the inventory during the secured transaction essay. I scored well, but never found out if my primary assumption helped or hurt my scores.

I took my High School Calculus final and did all the work and wrote in all the answers with a red crayon... one of those big fat ones they give you when you're 3 and coloring for the first time... not one of those nice skinny crayola ones. The only way I was going to get a passing grade for the semester was to get a 97 or above on that test... no way that was going to happen so I took the test and let the teacher have the job of reading all my calc work on the problems in scribbly red crayon.

For our biology midterm in high school, my friend and I developed a tapping system to determine the number of the question, and the multiple choice response. They had everyone set up at long table in the basement of the field house at the school, and we were at opposite ends of the table. The taps worked kinda like Roman Numerals: 2 quick taps equaled 5, 3 quick taps was 30, and slow taps were the single digits. For example: 2 quick, 2 quick, 2 quick, 3 slow = question #18; 3 quick, 2 quick, 2 slow = #37. Then, the answer was given through 1 to 5 slow taps, representing the choices A through E. We got away with it, and used it again for the final. What I ended up enjoying the most was finding out during college that a couple of guys got expelled from Princeton for using a very similar tapping scheme. Seriously, Princeton? That isn't some bullshit high school test that was a required course for everyone; if you're in an elite Ivy League school, read a fucking book.

The worst exam I ever took was the SATs in high school. It was like a scene out of an 80s movie. I had to take the test at another high school in the school district and I had never been there before. Not surprisingly, I got lost on the way to the school, and, by the time I got there, the parking lot was completely full. I was already late, and by the time I got into the school, everyone was in the classrooms. I didn't know my way around, and the high school was much larger than my own, so then I ended up getting lost in the school! When I finally found the room I needed to be in, I was about 15 minutes late and the door was already locked. The teacher wasn't going to let me in, but I must have looked like I was about to have a mental breakdown. I already missed the directions and a significant chunk of testing time, and all my pencil points, and in my frustration to write as quickly as possible, all my pencil points started breaking. Like everyone else, I got through it and lived to tell about it, but at the time it seemed as if my future was over.

On my SAT, I suddenly had an attack of, shall we call it, "indigestion" during the math portion. I ended up having to guess at half the answers when I got back from dealing with it. Talk of nightmares!

I took the AP Chemistry test during my sophomore year of high school. I wasn't super focused on it. I knew I wasn't going to do well for sure. When I opened it up, I knew I was going to fail. I started writing a letter for the Lab portion of the test. I explained that I was going to fail for sure to the readers. I apologized and gave a life story. I just wrote and wrote until time was up. I got a 1 out of 5 on that. I did that again during my AP Bio test. But i wonder who read that and what that person was thinking. Hey, I got into UCLA though. I'm a pretty good writer, I must say. I guess I got my practice by writing in AP tests.
