If your tastes run less to Katy Perry’s cotton-candy confectionary and more toward the kind of riot grrrl who might kick you in the balls just for the hell of it, you’re in the right place. Check out our rundown of some of the hottest women ever to bang their heads til they can’t bang no more.
Angela Gossow
A German beauty with the death growl of a Teutonic warrior, Gossow “sings” for the melodic death metal outfit Arch Enemy. We’d say more, but Gossow has made it clear she does not like to be called hot. Listen to her roar for a couple seconds and you’ll understand why we’re not going to piss her off.
Doris Yeh
Yeh is the kind of beauty who could change the way we think about Taiwanese death metal. Which is not to say we ever thought about Taiwanese death metal before. After taking a gander at Chthonic’s bassist and backing vocalist, however, we suspect all that is about to change.
Gazelle Amber Valentine
Sure, Valentine has the look of a silky sixties chanteuse, but she’s also got the throat of a two-pack-of-reds and bottle-of-whiskey-a-day steel worker. As lead singer and guitarist for Jucifer, she manages to make a genre called “sludge metal” unbelievably sexy.
Katherine Katz
In the bands Salome and Agoraphobic Nosebleed, Katz produces a guttural yelp that you’d never imagine emerges from this angel-faced beauty. Clearly the time has come to reconsider all those images of cherubs plucking the harp.
Maria Brink
With a taste for baby doll dresses and gobs of mascara, Brink might look like a kind of metalcore Gwen Stefani. Give her band In This Moment a quick listen, though, and you’re not going to mistake Brink for the Cali pop-princess anytime soon.
Alexia and Anissa Rodriguez
This Tempe, Arizona band is less kvlt than Hot Topic, but that doesn’t mean we can’t appreciate the beauty of these sisters. Their band Eyes Set to Kill (scary!) doesn’t allow video embedding, but if you want to take a look at the ladies in action, you can see their YouTube channel here.
Cristina Scabbia
This Italian hottie has a last name ready-made for metal, and Scabbia makes the most of it — lending her nearly operatic vocals to goth favorites Lacuna Coil.
Ashley Ellyllon of Cradle of Filth
Ellyllon is a goth metal goddess with the look of a pixie. As keyboardist for UK’s extreme metal outfit Cradle of Filth, Ellyllon can dirty up our cradle anytime she wants.
Candace Kucsulain
Handling lead shrieks for the Detroit-based metalcore band Walls of Jericho, Kucsulain can throw down with the best of them. Just watch her belt out the fantastically titled “There’s No I in Fuck You,” and tell us you’re not in love.
Alissa White-Gluz
Singing for the Canadian metal band The Agonist, White-Gluz alternates between grunting snarls and melodic vocals, but she never looks like anything less than a stone-cold fox.
Lauren Harris
Harris probably smiles a bit too much, and she definitely throws too many kisses to the crowd to be considered metal, but damned if she doesn’t have the ultimate hardcore pedigree. The raven-haired beauty is the daughter of Iron Maiden founder Steve Harris.
Kira Leigh (with an Angelina DelCarmen bonus!)
As frontman for the NYC-based Shadows Lie, Leigh brings sex-kitten stage antics to the wall of reverb that backs her sultry vocals. Their video for “Invited” has the added bonus of featuring another metal madonna, Angelina DelCarmen of Charetta.

Nothing wrong with any of these chicks, except maybe Lauren Harris, but where is Lizzie Hale? If you’ve never seen her live, then you’re missing a great show. She can throw it down with the best of them.
5:24 pm on October 21st, 2010
Uh…where’s Karin Axelsson on the list?
5:25 pm on October 21st, 2010
Agreed. The most badass metal chick who also happens to be pretty fuckin hot is Otep. Easily.
6:29 pm on October 21st, 2010
Don’t forget Grace Perry from Landmine Marathon.
8:16 pm on October 21st, 2010
Wow… Like other say, no Otep? Also, what about Morgan Lander from Kittie? Meh. This list seems thrown together without any actual research. Kudos for including the Eyes Set To Kill gals, even if they’re more screamo than metal.

and what’s awesome is that every one of these bands (except Arch Enemy) is terrible. coincidence?

I loved this article. As a huge black/death metal fan, this kind of stuff is always good fun. I can’t stand female vocals, but have to agree – leaving Opep off is just wrong. But thanks for introducing me to Lauren Harris. I will now take down my Powerslave, Killers and Trooper posters out of sadness. Steve, you let us all down.

epic fail. most of those bitches don’t deserve to be here. the person who put this list together just grabbed some mainstream names and is oblivious to the fact that there are female vocalists who are actualy in METAL bands, not this faggy pop-rock wannabe shit. Angela Gossow is the only real metal chick with brutal vocals here.
and everyone who likes OTEP – haha fags.

What about Andrea Black of HOWL?

I do backup Grim, where is Karin Axelsson from Sonic Syndicate? She definitely deserves a place on this list.
7:03 am on October 22nd, 2010
Yea, where the fuck is Alexis Brown? U suck!
3:17 pm on October 22nd, 2010
So happy Candace from Walls Of Jericho is on here. Last time I saw her was at Club Krome in NJ and she definitely had short hair, which I think is a way hotter look.
4:35 am on October 23rd, 2010
What the fuck do you mean not putting Laura from Kylesa on here?
8:57 am on October 23rd, 2010
A friend of mine sent this to me, and I laughed out loud at nearly every entry.
Please, look up what hardcore (the genre of music) means. This post should be called “Hot Women of Nu Metal”.
