We always suspected that your mom (and as a result, you) had some Native American blood in her. Not just because of her complexion and her hair, but how she used to get so pissed off when we would play Cowboys and Indians at your house.
Another dead giveaway was how much she worshipped Cher, particularly the song “Half-Breed” about the societal challenges faced by a young woman who is half white and half Cherokee. This became your mom’s personal anthem and it even inspired her to celebrate her heritage with her wardrobe whenever possible.
Of course, when doing so she took a cue from her idol and chose clothes that were as revealing as a woman could legally get away with at the time. Which was great, because like the early-’70s incarnation of Cher, your mom was hot!
