There were times when you wondered if the other kids at school were your friends because your family had money. For the most part, that was true, but not for the reasons you think. We would have gladly passed on the rides in your Cadillac convertible and all the free concert tickets, as long as your parents remained members of the yacht club.
We had zero interest in boating, or even stepping foot on the yacht club grounds. All we cared about was being at your house to see your mom before she and your dad left for the annual formal. Your mom didn’t mess around when it was time to put on a coat and tails, and much to our delight, she made sure that her, um, life preservers were on display.
If her outfit had the same effect on the old frogs at the yacht club as it did on us, the emergency room must have been full of heart attack victims. Fortunately, we were young enough to not have to worry about such things and fully appreciate the fact that even in a tuxedo, your mom was hot!
