Guilty of Romance, directed by Sion Sono, showed at the Cannes Film Festival last week; it’s the final part of Sono’s “Hate” trilogy. Reviewers weren’t bowled over by it. Here are some of Jordan Mintzer’s comments from a representative mixed review in the Hollywood Reporter:
“Despite all the blood and boobs, the auteurist Pink Film hysteria wears itself out, and … viewers will consist mainly of loyal fans and other guilty pleasure hounds.”
“At the center of the intrigue is a busty housewife, Izumi (Megumi Kagurazaka, lifted from a Russ Meyer movie), who’s submissive marriage to a bestselling erotica novelist (Kandji Tsuda) prompts her to unleash her own sexual inhibitions. What starts with a very un-innocent photo shoot quickly spirals, through Izumi’s encounter with a nymphomaniac professor, Mitsuko (Makoto Togashi), into a series of increasingly transgressive copulating throughout one of Tokyo’s Love Hotel districts.”
Sounds ok to us; in fact we’d like to back up to “busty housewife, Izumi (Megumi Kagurazaka, lifted from a Russ Meyer movie).” We looked up Megumi Kagurazaka, and wow, she is a busty dish to be sure. We were especially pleased by a series of photos she shot with some other busty dish. But who is it?
It is Arisa Oda, who now does porn under the name Mika Kayama.
Whether you prefer porn or art films, you have to admit these two make a lovely couple. (Megumi has the darker hair and rounder nose, Arisa aka Miki is the other one.)
