Chanel the Rapping Receptionist Talks Ridiculousness and Working at a Chinese Restaurant

Last week I chatted with Chanel, co-star of Rob Dyrdek’s Fantasy Factory and Ridiculousness, to find out what else we can expect from this gorgeous rapping receptionist.

So, how did you get involved in Fantasy Factory and Ridiculousness in the first place?

I was friends with Rob Dyrdek and Drama before they were working on the show and was already pursuing music and trying to get my name out there. Rob needed a receptionist, so he basically offered me the gig because he knew I was trying to get into the entertainment industry. So, that’s how I became the rapping receptionist (because I also rap).

Did you have any horrible side jobs before you started working with Rob?

I used to work in a Chinese restaurant, that was my first job. I worked as a receptionist at a real estate company after that.

Are you currently filming?

We are shooting now for Season 5 of Fantasy Factory and Ridiculousness is wrapped and airing right now.

Tell us about Ridiculousness!

Well, that show takes a lot less time to shoot. I’m pretty sure I’m just there to laugh- I laugh so hard on that show. It’s like America’s Funniest Home Videos meets Tosh.O. It’s a great show for the whole family. It’s a lot of action sports clips and Rob is a hilarious host.

What are you working on outside the show?

I signed a record deal and I’m in the studio currently recording my album. You can expect to see it out early next year and it’s going to be dope! I have songs with Chris Brown, Lil John, Waka Flocka…and today we’re recording a song that we’re trying to get Lil Wayne on- so I’m very excited about that one! Once I’m done with season 5 I plan on pursuing more acting and modeling, I just don’t have time when we’re filming.

What is it like working with these huge stars, when just a few years ago you were working at a Chinese restaurant? Do you get star struck?

At first I did. Within the first 10 minutes of signing my deal Diddy walked in to the studio and then Justin Timberlake came in- and with him I was a little nervous, I was like “Oh my God, Justin Timberlake’s walking in!”. Once you start being around these people all the time and especially after doing the show, you just get used to it. I’ve wanted to do this my whole life, so part of me feels like I’m where I’m supposed to be.

So, what can we expect to see on the new season of Fantasy Factory?

This is going to be our funniest and craziest season so far! There is so much hilarious stuff. I don’t want to give away too much, but I had to get into a fat suit last week and that was pretty interesting. There was also a photo shoot with a bull, so that was very hectic. We’re doing all kinds of crazy stuff- this will be the best season yet.

What’s your ideal date?

I like doing really adventurous and fun stuff. This might sound crazy, but something like sky diving or going on a trip would be awesome.

I bet it’s hard for a guy to really impress you since you’re constantly around crazy and exciting men.

Anyone who takes me out definitely has a lot of competition because we’re always doing such crazy stuff. Whatever guys go on a date with me really need to step it up.

Do you have a lot of guys that try to hit you up on Twitter?

Yes! I would say every time I look at my app I see at least one person saying “Chanel will you marry me?”.

If you want to propose to Chanel or see what she’s up to, you can follow her on Twitter (@chanelwestcoast) or check out her official website (

Ridiculousness airs Mondays at 10/9 central on MTV!
