There was a time when every phone call made to and from the White House was recorded. Naturally, some of those recorded calls were eventually made public and some pretty entertaining conversations were discovered. The most entertaining of the bunch may be this 1964 conversation between Lyndon Johnson and the Haggar clothing company.
It takes a lot to turn a phone call to order pants into an exercise in unintentional hilarity, but LBJ pulls it off in grand fashion. As if the admission that his weight tends to fluctuate a whopping 15 pounds or so each month isn’t good enough, we’re also treated to more info than we ever needed about his Presidential ball sack and bunghole. For the record, yes, he uses both of those terms at various points during the conversation.
