Trailers: John Cena Likes Wrastlin’, James Franco Not Playing a Pothead

The movie trailer fare that came out this week is slightly smirk-worthy, but largely depressing: another grumpy-old-man-coaches-girls-sports-team comedy, an overcoming-physical-adversity drama with James Franco, a promising zombie TV series and a wrastlin’ movie with WWE great John Cena.

Which ones will you be seeing?

The Winning Season
Sam Rockwell, Rob Corddry

How many movies does this make now that have a plot of an old drunk bastard coaching a sports team (of girls[!!!])? Sam Rockwell blew us away in Moon, but we’re still not entirely convinced he can be funny.

In theaters (limited) Sept. 3

127 Hours
James Franco, Amber Tamblyn

In this movie adaptation of a true story, James Franco plays a guy who gets stuck between a rock and a hard place and decides to amputate his own arm to get free. No, seriously.

In theaters Nov. 5

*TV*

The Walking Dead
Andrew Lincoln, Jon Bernthal

A small town sheriff wakes up from a coma to discover he’s one of the last survivors of a zombie apocalypse in this six-episode series on AMC. Danny Boyle and Cillian Murphy are laughing in a mansion somewhere right now.

Premieres Oct. 31 on AMC

Legendary
John Cena, Danny Glover, Patricia Clarkson

Here’s what we gathered: John Cena was a wrestling star, then he went to jail, then his geeky little brother decided to wrestle. And…Danny Glover?

In theaters Sept. 10
