Montreal-based producer Majical Cloudz, aka Devon Welsh, who often collaborates with local talent and all-around fave indie girl, Grimes (and that’s her mug with his in the pic above), released this jam recently, and all of us here at TSJ office headquarters — including our entire posse of lollygagging vegan interns — have been listening to “What That Was” on repeat for about a week. The tune is from the “Turns Turns Turns” EP, released December 3 on Merok/Arbutus records. We’re digging this track hard – it’s that right mix of sampled tracks, good beats, and some laid back bromance lyrics we just can’t get enough of.
