Weekly Release: Death Cab for Cutie, Eddie Vedder and More

albums main

So here we are, talking about new music in a post-Gaga-sophomore-album world. Has Born This Way changed music forever? Is it the “album of the decade” like she claimed it would be? No and no. So let’s talk about some other stuff instead.

This is your Weekly Release for the last week of May, 2011.

My Morning Jacket – Circuital

Is the new single from My Morning Jacket any good? Hell if we know, that shit is seven minutes long. This is the Internet. You might as well be asking us to watch the entire Lord of the Rings trilogy in one sitting. But if we’re going off past history, we trust that their new album, Circuital, will be pretty great. It’s in stores today. Give it a listen why don’t ya?

Eddie Vedder – Ukulele Songs

Eddie Vedder is a lot like LeBron James, people either love him or hate him. For those of you on the “love him” side of things, you’ll be glad to know he has a new album, Ukulele Songs, in stores today. For those of you who revel in hating on Eddie Vedder, we have some great news for you. He’s got a new album in stores today, and it’s called fucking Ukulele Songs!

Jordan Knight – Unfinished

Here’s one for the “why in the world is this happening?” files. Jordan Knight, former lead singer of 1980s heartthrobs New Kids on the Block, has a new solo album out today. It comes hot on the heels of the “band’s” joint album with fellow has beens Backstreet Boys. It’s like they say, you might as well strike while the iron is lukewarm.

Death Cab for Cutie – Codes and Keys

Death Cab for Cutie dropped a full-on masterpiece a few years back with Narrow Stairs. Can they match that success with the follow-up, Codes and Keys? Only time will tell, but damn if this first video isn’t pretty damn neat.
